                            Rowan Blaisdell, MSW

Thank you for visiting. My path to this work has taken many turns, and I'm so grateful that it has led me here. I've worn lots of hats in my life. I was a chef for many years, I owned and operated two artisan bread companies, and I was a custom cabinetmaker for 15 years. I bring all of my past experience into the room when I do therapy. You would be surprised at how much I learned about humans by spending the day working lumps of dough or a plank of lumber. We bend, we break, and under the right conditions we can be amazingly resilient. Sometimes we just need to be supported in the right way.

I have a Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Denver, and I love doing this work. I invite you to check out my blog, it's the best place to get to know me. You can jump to it here

I believe good therapy is all about the relationship. If it's not a good fit, then the work can't happen. Below you will find what some of my past and current clients have to say about the work we do together.

I urge you to set up an initial visit to see how it feels. I'm happy to meet with you for 15-20 minutes free of charge to discuss whatever challenges are coming up for you and give you a sense of how I work.

I charge $75 / 50 minute session for individual work, $100 / 90 minute session for couples. I do not accept insurance at this time, however I do have a sliding scale if payment is a hardship.

Testimonials:

"Working with Rowan has been very valuable for me. After every session, I come away with at least one or two mental shifts, or "take-aways."  Instead of feeling like I've spent an hour just talking, I know that my time with Rowan is helping me to move forward in a healthier way with some real, practical tools. Rowan has a non-intimidating manner, and it is quickly obvious that he has a broad base of knowledge he uses to improve my life. I am very grateful to have such skilled therapist in a small town like Durango." - KE

"I was fortunate to have worked with Rowan in individual sessions and group sessions, both for roughly six months. Rowan proved, day in and day out, that he was trust-worthy and invested in everything and anything I had to share. He made our time in the sessions together count, and always made sure I walked away feeling secure and comfortable with our discussions. I had no prior experience with therapy but found that Rowan's ability to be professional yet relatable and easy-going, helped me get exactly what I hoped to out of therapy. I would greatly recommend Rowan's practice and expertise to anyone looking for a knowledgable, professional and invested therapist." -MP

"I wanted to thank you again for everything that you taught me and helped me realize about myself and life. I think on who I am now and who I was a year ago and the difference is incredible. I'm so thankful that our paths crossed. Whenever I begin to slip back into that darkness and negativity I just think back on the things that you told me; this has encouraged me to keep on going no matter what." - KD

"I’ve been working with Rowan for over a year now and I cannot even begin to explain to you how great he is! He’s very personable and always takes time to hear me out, rather than talk over me and tell me how to live my life. He has always been someone I have felt comfortable coming to with anything and is very intelligent and good at his job! He has dug deep into my story and has always helped me to realize why I might be angry at one thing because of something in my past. He is the best counselor I have ever had and you would be missing out if you passed him up!" - AG

"Rowan leads an exceptional group. I used to be afraid of people before I went into a group situation. Rowan fostered a deep environment that allowed me to open my shell and explore the wonderful world of other people. He is caring and emotional and is good at tending to things that need tending. I would go into another group with him."  -CM

"In the past I've struggled in therapy because I could detach from my emotions in order to hide them from the therapist, just as I did from other people in my life. Group therapy is different, because it is much more difficult to get away with this lack of vulnerability. Thanks to Rowan's Dream Group, I learned to trust in being vulnerable, and this skill has already had an impact on my life and my relationships. Rowan expertly creates a space and group dynamic that fosters authenticity and rawness in order for all the members of the group to achieve a level of healing. It wasn't easy, but Dream Group was one of the most influential therapeutic experiences I have had." - MM
